FRI · 4:00PM New payment claim received

It's 4pm on a Friday and a payment claim has just landed.

Don't
Panic

Who's checking it?

When is your response due?

If you think the amount is wrong, what exactly do you have to say, and by when?

Don't panic. The clock hasn't really started yet. Response times are counted in working days, and Saturday and Sunday aren't working days. So unless it's a public holiday, Monday is day one of your response period.

The first thing to check is who has the authority to respond under your contract. Ideally you'll have checked the contract at the start of the project, so you already know who responds, how long you have and what your payment schedule needs to say.

That's what this course is about.

Our approach

Practical training that keeps projects out of dispute.

Our training focuses on what the Construction Contracts Act requires of you, so claims and responses are clear, nobody is left guessing and disagreements don't turn into disputes. Working to the Act and your contract is how you look after the relationships on a project.

Less ambiguity.Fewer arguments.That's our approach.

If you work in construction, you need to know the Act.

This course is for anyone who prepares payment claims, or receives them and responds with a payment schedule.

Especially business owners. Too many businesses don't apply the Act because they don't know it exists. If you own or run a business that does any kind of construction work, you should know how the Act protects your cash flow, your entitlement to be paid and the supply chain.

The last public course before the Christmas shutdown. Payment timeframes are counted in working days, and the Christmas break isn't working days. A payment claim received just before the shutdown can push the payment schedule, and the payment itself, much later into January than people expect. Know your dates before it catches you out.
